Estate Information
While I did note your desire to distance yourself from me in your letter of March 08, 2010—I did not see any mention that you wish to be removed from my estate planning documents. I am, therefore, assuming that you wish to receive that portion of my estate that I have bequeathed to you upon my passing. I have previously supplied you with the names of and contact information for my Executrix and Trustee. Just so that you know, all of my assets (home and all accounts) have been transferred from my name to that of my revocable trust. In addition to my home and accounts, there are many other items of some value that I wish to pass on to you—many items that once belonged to my grandparents. Because I do not know what hobbies or interests you, Laura, have developed over the years, I cannot make any specific designations. I do wish for you to have any items that might be of specific interest, however. There is a safe deposit box that, as of this writing, contains my coin collection. Many of the older coins came from my father’s coin collection—started when he was young. Perhaps you might like having this. As for your sister, Carolyn, I would like for her to receive all of my musical instruments, recording, equipment, and art supplies. My Executrix and Trustee are both in possession of a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet containing a list of my earthly possessions and to whom I wish for them to be gifted. My Executrix and Trustee are also both in possession of my instructions for how I wish my remains to be handled and my funeral service. I have purchased several cemetery plots at Crown Hill Cemetery outside of Powell, Wyoming—my father’s hometown and the town in which his parents lived for over 60 years. Both of my father’s parents, my father’s sister (my Aunt Jean), my cousin (Jean’s daughter), and cousin’s father (my former uncle) are all buried at Crown Hill Cemetery. A reminder that my father is buried at Arlington National Cemetery (Section 69, Plot 1712). Following the passing of my mother, she will be buried with my father. Finally, all of the estate planning documents for both of my parents and for me were prepared by Venable LLP. The name of our family attorney and his contact information have been previously provided to my Executrix, my Trustee, and to you.
It should be noted that I serve as the Trustee for an education trust created by my father for the specific purpose of providing funds for the undergraduate and graduate educations of my two nieces (your cousins). Also, I serve as the Executrix and Trustee for my mother’s estate. Should I predecease my mother, my eldest niece (your cousin Melodi) will serve in these capacities. I will update this information as necessary. |
